Dr. Md Sarwar Jahan
Dr. Md Sarwar Jahan completed BSc (Hons) and MSc with first class from the department of Applied Chemistry, Rajshahi University and joined in BCSIR in 1992 as a Scientific Officer. He completed PhD from the same university on jute pulping. Dr. Jahan was promoted to Senior Scientific Officer, Principal Scientific Officer and Chief Scientific Officer in 2004, 2010 and 2017, respectively. He completed Post-doctoral Research in 2001-2 and 2003-4 from the Nanjing Forestry University, China and Chonbuk National University, South Korea, respectively. He has published 190 research articles in different reputed journals. Dr. Jahan has received David Wetherhorn Award, TAPPI, USA in 2009, Bangladesh Academy of Science Gold Medal in 2013, Prize achieved in Successful Innovation in Science and Technology in Developing Countries, TWAS, Italy in 2015, and became Elected Fellow, International Academy of Wood Science, 2015. He was Director (in-charge) from December 2016 to July 2018. Dr. Jahan promoted to Director in Oct 2020. Dr. Jahan selected as Visiting Scholar in the University of New Brunswick, Canada in 2008-9, 12-13 and 2020. He has supervised PhD 02 students, and more than 100 M.Sc student’s thesis. Dr. Jahan presented research articles in different international scientific conferences in different country.
He is a Deputy Coordination, 5.07.03 WP: Pulp and Paper, International Union of Forestry Research Organization (IUFRO), Austria and worked as a Member, Steering Committee of Asia Pacific, International Network of Government Science Policy (INGSA), New-Zealand (2018-2020).
Dr. Jahan is working as Editor, Bangladesh Journal of Scientific and Industrial Research (BJSIR), and a Member of Editorial Board of the Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts, Canada and Paper and Biomaterials, China. He is also a reviewer of different journals published by Elsevier, Springer, ACS, Wiley-Interscience and others.
He is a profession member of APPITA, TAPPI, PAPTAC and SWST.
